Police and Drones

Police have duty to investigate crime.  It's a pretty hard job, especially when you do not have the resources or the manpower to investigate it.  That being said it is even worse when the law isn't in your favour or clear.  Which is why we need to have a little look at drones and their usage.  Police have to investigate the usage of drones and how they operate, if a complaint is made.

This is why I asked all the police forces in Wales this:

Please can you provide me with details of complaints/ calls regarding drones/ UAV's flying over residential properties.

I am looking for data between Jan 2015 and Jan 2016 in the following format:
Date | Time | Location

Now the reason for this is simple.  It shows that the police are already painting a picture of their use and how they are causing a problem for us.  Full disclosure, this request is a copy of someone else's, but it was so good that I thought that I would nick it and pass it off as my own.

What were the responses?

None
Six Instances
Referred to already available documents.
Now this is pretty cool.  They do keep these records and make it available to you to have a look at. Now drones are something that will become a part of our lives more over the next few years.  In fact, some people are worried that are already being used to scout buildings to burgle.

So why is this something that is interesting?  Because this, as stated, is going to increase.  Police will have to look at how drones (in all their instances) are being used.  It also shows that the police will need to look at new strategies and new thought abouts this issue.  I can smell the FoI requests brewing on this matter already.
