Number Stations

I have a thing for the Cold War.  The absolute nonsense that came from it.  Using poisoned umbrellas to kill people, Planning to blow up the moon, and many more examples of total nonsense.  The thing is that the cold war probably spend up technological develop by tonnes, because it forced the two completing nations (Russia and USA) into making new and innovative ways of doing something (Space Race, Spying, Nuclear Weapons).  The thing is, that is also brought up a shed load of things that were really interesting.  The thing that we are going to look at today, kids, something that was developed at the height of the cold war, which is is number stations.

Number Stations are radio broadcast between two people on a high frequency radio band.  It is a closest that we can get to a one time cypher (A very secure code). So why bring it up here?  Because let's find out what different department know about them!  Wouldn't it be cool to find out what is said about them and what we can excavate?  So which departments shall we ask?  The Ministry of Defence (it is a military matter, after all), The Cabinet Officer (As they would probably have invested in them) and the Office of Communications (Ofcom - Because they are all about the broadcasting and they can tell us about the legality of broadcasting a number station).

So what was said?  This has to be one of the most interesting ones that I have done. The reason is because the Ministry of defence totally refused to even acknowledge that they had information!  This was because it was national security (Which is fair enough).  Which throws up more questions!  Makes you think doesn't it? Do they know this or not?  In some respects the secret has made the truth more interesting.

At time of writing, the Cabinet Office and Ofcom have yet to get back in touch with me.  I will be so interested to know more about this matter.  This is a sensitive intelligence matter. The likelihood is that this is a blind alley and that we will find nothing more on this matter. That being said, we may have something that makes our heads spin.
